Trout Fishing Trip
A 6 day trip, fishing in clean, pure rivers and lakes. Three main fly fishing techniques taught are dry, sinking, and nymph. Your guide will teach you how to ‘read’ a river, which is essential to have a good days fishing, as fly fishing is mainly down to observation. Fly fishing is a very tiring technique so you need to be ready for a work out. We also provide an extremely important river safety course.
A two day excursion will also be planned, where you will be able to fish on the famous Loch Ness. Again the days will be long, waking up early and going to sleep late, in order to maximize the amount of time fishing. You will be offered the opportunity to go salmon fishing on private land surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges.
Brown trout are present in most of the Scottish rivers and lakes, however catching a trout is not guaranteed. Larger trout are typically found near the southern highlands.
If you have luck and perseverance, a spectacular battle awaits. Scottish trout are extremely fit and swim in strong currents. These currents can help a 1kg trout fight like one twice its weight. Some lakes are inhabited by stunning rainbow trout, they are typically 4-6kg so a hard fight is guaranteed. However fishing on lakes is very different from river fishing, so your guide will teach you techniques to catch these amazing rainbow trout.
Season: Typically mid-March to September, with the best time being in May. A late April dry fly fishing is common, although is much tougher.
